Greece exhibits an important agricultural production, placing it amongst the major producers of fruit in Europe. It also offers major, modern facilities for processing and standardization. The propitious Mediterranean climate with mild temperatures, adequate rainfall and plentiful sunshine, combined with the distinctive soil characteristics, have a most beneficial effect on the colour, taste, texture and overall quality of the crops. The land topography of North Greece, the mountainous verdant regions, combined with the fertile valley of River Haliacmon and nearby mountsins, shape a singular local climate offering ideal soil and climate conditions for healthy and productive orchards.
The region is abundant with natural beauties and brimming with history. This is the starting point of the expeditions to the East of Alexander the Great, who ventured deep into Asia and came in contact with the culture and morals of the people living there. It was then that the cultivation of peach and other fruits was imparted and spread in Greece and Europe, cultivations that continue to flourish until now. Although they originate in Asia, these bearing trees are interwoven with Mediterranean life and culture for centuries.
